First the story, then the face.

Branding Agency in Amsterdam

Innovation creates greater impact when people understand it. That’s why Marsmedia exists: a branding agency in Amsterdam that has worked for twenty years with organisations rich in expertise but struggling to communicate it clearly — biotech, life sciences, medtech, sustainable tech, SaaS.

Our conviction: the knowledge a strong brand needs already exists inside your organisation. It’s just scattered — across teams, heads and documents. Our work starts with surfacing that knowledge and organising it into one foundation. Only then does the brand get a face, and a website where it comes to life.

Three hundred brands and websites later, that’s still how it works. And ninety per cent of our clients stay after the first project.

Why work with a branding agency

Nearly every brand project starts with the same discovery: the knowledge is already there. It just isn’t one story yet.

What we do, specifically

Brand strategy and positioning

The foundation under everything else. Through the Mars Methodology — Project Foundation, Deep Dive, Communication Framework — we surface the knowledge that already exists and organise it into direction in two to three weeks: what you stand for, for whom, and why it matters.

The deliverable is deliberately compact: the essence should fit on one page. A strategy only works when everyone can retell it — and then the real work begins.

Brand identity design

Logo, typography, colour, imagery and tone — designed as one coherent language, documented in brand guidelines your team can actually work with, communication framework included so the direction never gets lost.

What a strong identity is built from, and what it does for the people who see it, we’ve written down on our page about brand identity.

Five brand identity elements: logo, color palette, typography, illustration and imagery

Naming, voice and story

A brand that looks right but reads wrong doesn’t hold. Where the project asks for it, we take on naming, tagline and tone of voice — the verbal system alongside the visual one.

For innovation organisations that’s often where the real work sits: saying something complex in words a reader trusts.

Brand, applied

We don’t hand over a PDF and wish you luck. The same team that designs the brand applies it — to the website, the templates, the campaign that follows.

That’s where a brand proves itself: not in the presentation, but in year two, when your team publishes something new and it still feels unmistakably yours.

“A brand isn’t what you say about yourself.
It’s what stays recognisable when you’re not in the room.”

Curious what our kickoff would surface about your brand?

First the foundation, then the building. Everyone knows what is needed, and when.

How we work

Three steps. Everyone knows what is needed, and when.

The kickoff

Two to three hours with both core teams at one table — founder included, your specialists where needed. Everything said gets organised through the Mars Methodology (Project Foundation → Deep Dive → Communication Framework) into the communication foundation, in two to three weeks.

That sets the direction. And then the real work begins.

From foundation to concepts

We translate the foundation into a small number of directions and choose together. Every design decision after that traces back to something you said — which makes it defensible, internally too, in front of a board or investor.

We apply until it lives

Website, templates, presentations, event materials — by the same team, no handover. And in the first months we watch how the brand performs in real use: a brand is never finished on delivery day.
