Sander returns to Mars as junior UX designer
Sometimes an earlier experience stays with you. Sander joined Mars again this year, now as a junior UX designer. After completing his internship in 2023, graduating and gaining experience elsewhere, returning to Mars felt like the right next step.
Sander knew the people, the way of working and the level of care that goes into projects. Coming back did not feel like starting over, but like continuing a conversation. This makes it a good moment to introduce Sander properly and share what he will be focusing on at Mars.
Why Sander decided to return to Mars
During his internship, Sander became familiar with how Mars works and with the people behind the projects.
“During my internship I learned a lot and felt well supported by the team,” he says. “After that I focused on my graduation project and worked somewhere else for a short period. At some point I wanted to consciously continue within UX. Because of my positive experience, returning to Mars felt like a logical choice.”
That earlier connection now provides a calm and confident starting point for this new role.
What Sander will work on at Mars
In the coming period, Sander will focus on UX design across different projects. He works closely with colleagues from other disciplines, such as brand and development.
“I want to keep growing within UX and gradually take on more responsibility,” he explains. “The goal is to strengthen designs and genuinely improve usability.”
How Sander approaches collaboration
For Sander, good collaboration starts with clear communication. He values sharing ideas and creating moments to reflect together.
“I like to organise feedback sessions, both with colleagues and with clients,” he says. “It helps to sharpen decisions and arrive at better solutions together.”
This way of working fits naturally with how teams at Mars approach their projects.
What Sander wants to keep learning
As a UX designer, Sander wants to further develop his ability to translate client needs into clear and thoughtful designs. Presenting and substantiating those choices is an important part of that growth.
“Not just showing what you made, but explaining why certain choices work. That’s something I want to get better at.”
Outside work and at the lunch table
Outside of work, Sander can often be found at the gym several times a week. He also enjoys spending time with friends and doing activities together.
At the office, he already has a clear favourite.
“The wraps,” he says. “During my first week as an intern I had to get used to the extensive lunches, but once I tried them, I was sold. Putting together a wrap almost feels like designing.”
Looking ahead at Mars
With Sander, Mars welcomes a junior UX designer who already knows the team, values collaboration and is focused on steady, thoughtful growth. The coming period is about learning, deepening his skills and contributing to projects in a way that fits both him and Mars.
