As a project manager, I know how challenging it can be to launch even one website on time, let alone two. That was the task we were given for Avantium. Not only did we need to renew their corporate website, but also their website for Avantium Renewable Polymers (RDS). Both websites had to be completed on time while delivering the right message to different audiences, such as investors and partners in sustainable chemistry.

In this blog, I’ll share how we launched Avantium’s websites on time and according to plan—and what you can learn from this if you’re working on or planning your own website project.

Avantium is an innovative Dutch company focused on sustainable chemistry. They develop technologies to create biobased chemicals and materials, such as recyclable and plant-based plastics, with the aim of creating a more sustainable future.

Why Two New Websites?

Avantium leads the way in sustainable innovation with their work in bio-based materials, like plant-based and recyclable plastics. Their old websites no longer met their growing role in the market. The challenge was to renew both the corporate website and the site for the commercial branch, ensuring both align with their ambitions in sustainable chemistry. These sites needed to be fast, user-friendly, and visually strong, without compromising on quality.

A Strong Foundation Starts with Collaboration

In the biotech industry, you often work with complex information, but that doesn’t mean the website itself should be complicated. We believe in the power of simplicity. That’s why we designed a navigation structure where any visitor—whether an investor or a potential employee—can find the right information within a few clicks.

We also ensured that the visual elements were not only clear and attractive but also reinforced Avantium’s story as an innovator in the biotech world.

Full Support to Stay Focused on What Really Matters

Avantium wanted to focus primarily on their daily activities, such as developing sustainable technologies, while we took care of the technical side of the website. Therefore, we handled all the content management, filling the website with their texts and images, ensuring everything fit seamlessly into the design.

This kind of support allows the client to focus on their core business, while we ensure the website goes live on time and in perfect working order.

A Tight Schedule and Clear Communication

Meeting a deadline is always intense, but with good communication and a clear plan, it can run smoothly. Through regular discussions with the Avantium team, we ensured everyone stayed on the same page. Each phase of the project was carefully planned and coordinated. This way, we tracked progress and made sure we hit the launch date of September 1st.

What Can You Learn from This?

Working with Avantium once again showed us how important it is to have a strong foundation for collaboration in any project. Here are a few lessons I’d like to share with you:

Start with a good foundation

From the beginning, understand what your website needs to achieve. Focus on what’s truly important for your target audience. Don’t rush this, as it’s the essential starting point.

Keep it simple

Whether you’re in biotech or another sector, clear and simple navigation improves the experience for your visitors. You don’t have to share everything, but you want them to contact you so you can tell them more!

Collaboration is key

Good communication with your team and stakeholders ensures that deadlines are met without sacrificing quality.

Delegate when possible

When possible, outsource the technical and content work so that you can focus on what’s most important in your daily tasks and keep the bigger picture in view.

Thanks to this approach, together with the client, Avantium’s new websites went live right on time, ready to strengthen their position as an innovative company.
